<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Chronic viral hepatitis C is the most common cause of liver damage and the global problem worldwide since is characterized by a high prevalence, high chronization rates, and significantly increases the risk of liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Many studies have shown that antigen-specific СD4+ and CD8+T-cells play a key role in pathogenesis and outcome of the infection. While the strong sustained antigenspecific multi-epitopic T-cell response predicts successful viral elimination, a deficiency of adaptive immune response is associated with virus persistence. This review presents data about pathogenetic significance of T-cell response in viral elimination, viral persistence and hepatitis development. Possible mechanisms of T-cell response failure in chronic infection are discussed as well.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>антиген-специфический Т-клеточный ответ</kwd><kwd>CD8+Т-клетки</kwd><kwd>CD4+Т-клетки</kwd><kwd>вирусный гепатит С</kwd><kwd>адаптивный иммунный ответ</kwd><kwd>вирусные антигены</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>antigen-specific T-cell response</kwd><kwd>СD8+T-cells</kwd><kwd>CD4+T-cells</kwd><kwd>viral hepatitis C</kwd><kwd>adaptive T-cells response</kwd><kwd>viral antigens</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Alatrakchi N., Graham C.S., van der Vliet H.J., Sherman K.E., Exley M.A., Koziel M.J.
